Hi Dove,

Thanks for stopping by :)

Agreed! Once an awareness sets in and an understanding of how much the logical mind can interfere in a Tarot reading, then it's almost like a massive weight has just been lifted. It becomes fluid, fun and unpredictable (if that's the right choice of words :) ).

That's a great technique. Reading our everyday environment like it's a Tarot card can only help to increase that connection we have with Tarot.

<blockquote>
I said to myself, “Holy sh*t, there’s a Tower card.” And sure enough, although things went smoothly at first, it played out within an hour.
</blockquote>

:D

<blockquote>
One of the most intense Tarot readings I’ve done was for a woman whose husband had a terminal illness. I saw him in a wheel chair with the Wheel of Fortune. The reading was rife with swords cards — it shook me, told her I saw a LOT of blood and cutting. I saw the effect it had on the little ones… She said it was one of the most potent, most accurate readings she’d ever received. Sometimes ya’ just connect really deeply like that.
</blockquote>

What a powerful reading! Yup, that's what I call connecting deeply :D

<blockquote>
For me, until I realized the cards are just a tool to stoke our natural psychic ability, they kinda weakened that “muscle,” because we logical ones tend to immediately go to the book meanings, letting our “intuition” languish. It’s the reason we think we aren’t “psychic,” because it’s all about thinking (using “common sense”), not feeling/receiving.
</blockquote>

Great insight, and advice for anyone who is starting out in Tarot.

Thank you for adding to this conversation :D

Ha, I thought all Tarot readers did that ;) I do consider myself "psychic" (I believe everyone is), and upon discovering this ability, I did very accurate psychic readings (no cards) for a few years before discovering the Tarot. With the cards, like you, initially I was overusing my "logical" energy and drowning my "intuition" in the process. But, once discovering this, omg, makes Tarot reading so much more fun, lol Also interesting to look back at the cards you've drawn, hindsight, and seeing stuff like that.

I also "read" my environment as if things/situations/people were Tarot cards. Like a scissortail bird sittin' on a wire is the 2 of Swords :) A few years back, I walked into a person's bathroom, didn't know her that well, and discovered she'd smashed the mirror. It could have been an accident, but my first thought was she'd done it intentionally. I said to myself, "Holy sh*t, there's a Tower card." And sure enough, although things went smoothly at first, it played out within an hour.

Hi Babs,

Thanks for stopping by :D

<blockquote>
I guess we invented it simultaneously, or arrived at the exact same end result in different ways.
</blockquote>

It's strange how these things happen :) I wonder if it has something to do with the collective unconscious? I've read about this kind of thing happen from time to time. Some of the most interesting examples are from the scientific community. I've often read how two or more people, entirely independent of each other, arrive at the same results at approximately the same time. I find stuff like that fascinating.

<blockquote>
And I’d like add in that it was a great article and I agree wholeheartedly with all you said. It is a wonderful way to read in my opinion. It makes learning Tarot fun and spontaneous rather than memorization. And it works wonderfully as method. I often have been told I must be channelling the answers when I read and it often feels like I am. Once you get in the flow it can feel like that and can have that kind of results.
</blockquote>

I really appreciate your kind words and I'm really glad you liked the article :D

The method you mentioned here is exactly how I have been reading for years. Very nicely and succinctly explained too. I was so surprised to read this as I invented this method years ago. I did not read it anywhere really, it just came from combining things I've read along with lots of trial and error. It was amazing to see someone describing exaclty what I do so clearly. I guess we invented it simultaneously, or arrived at the exact same end result in different ways.

That is exactly how I read, and I never knew anyone else who did this in exactly that way until now. And I'd like add in that it was a great article and I agree wholeheartedly with all you said. I hope many more people try it.

Hi Sandy,

Thanks for dropping by :)

I know what you mean. I've spoken to some highly experienced Tarot readers - they all go through phases of uncertainty.

One of my favourite quotes is, "Give up and you will succeed". I never really understood the full implications of that until I went through a "burnout" phase.

As a result of this phase, a lot of the pressure was removed and I was able to judge the success of a reading based on how much "fun" I had - very important if "burnout" has taken hold. Nowadays (and I can still have moments of uncertainty) I try and put things in place that will remove any pressure I feel to "get it right". This frees me up to relax, have fun, and enjoy what I'm doing.

Sometimes it's just a question of figuring out what works best for us as individuals. For me, it's having fun and remaining relaxed.

This is one of the areas I have trouble with. No matter how often my intuition is correct, I still feel shy about relying strictly on it. So even though I have been readings cards for 15 years, I still have the safety net of a book handy. I need to find a way to move past that confort factor and trust my instincts, especially since my readngs are always scary accurate!

Thanks for the story :)

Hi Katrina,

I agree, the intuitive aspect of reading Tarot cards is very important. I also think that the possibility exists for many people to become aware of it.

I think a fun and relaxed atmosphere can really assist people to open "...to the possibility".

Thank you for sharing all this useful information - both the background information, and also the Tarot Tip. :D

Hi AarTiana,

Thanks for dropping by :)

<blockquote>
I also had to learn some quick-cleansing of the cards between readings too hehe!
</blockquote>

LOL yeah its something that only "on the job" training can give you.

Some great points! Especially the insightful way you describe the many faces of the King of Swords.

It can be very easy to lose confidence in ourselves when we keep seeing the same cards turn up - or encounter the same "theme". I think your right to point out how important it is to trust ourselves when this happens.

Thank you for sharing your experiences and also for your kind words. I'm glad you liked the post :D

Thank you for sharing your experiences and also for your kind words. I’m glad you liked the post
