Hi dear,
First of all thank you from the heart to share your knowledge with everyone and even for guiding whoever want to join the world of Tarot.
For me all your tutorials have been very helpful and enjoyable.
I would like to ask you something: I have read many different meaning for cards from different Tarots reader but at the end of the day i dnt know with whose meaning should i go???
I wish to have your interpretation of each 78 cards since i am following your tutorials, i have the feeling that this would be the best meaning for me.

One more Thank you..

Hi Flávio,

I've never heard of Ney Naiff - do you find Ney Naiff a source of inspiration? I've always found it useful to seek inspiration when learning anything. It keeps the passion for the subject alive in my experience :)

I hope you enjoy the rest of the beginners tutorial :D

Hi Rachael,

Thank you for your kind words. I really appreciate it :)

Learning the Tarot can become daunting when there is so much information available. The real knack to reading Tarot cards is to allow the imagination to take over from our rational minds. This can be extremely difficult to do. It requires a certain level of trust.

So much about learning (anything) these days involves a good grasp of theory and a rational assessment of that theory. People tend to take this approach into reading Tarot cards but this is where it falls down because reading Tarot cards is an irrational process; a large part of that process involves intuition, and intuition is always particular to the individual Tarot reader.

This means that each person develops their own style. If there is one thing I would want you to keep in mind as you learn Tarot it is this: Trust yourself. Trust that irrational part of you whenever you sit down to read some cards because it is that irrational part of you that, when trusted, reads the Tarot. All the other techniques, such as Elemental Dignities, Card Counting or whatever, are just devices to help each and every Tarot reader become comfortable with that irrational voice that actually does the reading.

I'm glad you're enjoying some of the articles I've written and I wish you all the best. Let me know how you get on :D

I became interested in tarot in 2009 but for the life of me could not make head nor tail out of any of it and nothing spoke to me! I think the main problem was reading too much information on the internet and I just overloaded.

About four weeks ago I decided I was ready to try again and this time I just used my book to help me along, I seemed to pick up more this way but still I felt that something was missing, still I felt that I just was not getting the full picture I could accurately read the cards but they were not flowing so to speak. I decided to just look up a little bit on the internet. I came across your blog and I have to say I am really glad I did because it has helped me a lot. Just having the keywords so far is brilliant and I am now getting to know the cards a lot quicker. I am still a little daunted by the elemental dignities but I feel that I will learn a lot more following your course than I would going through all the information on the internet so thank you for putting this together in words and ways I actually understand!

hi there Douglas, I have completed the first lesson some time ago and keep re doing it again and again because the only thing that I have a problem with is remembering the court cars some times I get it right but then others my memory just goes so I assosiate withe the type of card that they are fire air the colour of the card red for rage air blue card cold as ice at times a earth the green lands of old and money and the water well just plain simple cold water like some emotions cold.

yeah I have been having dreams about the cards and not just small dreams these seem to last the night not scarey ones though might be playing on the mind about not getting it some times, i have been trying to assosiate the court cards with people that i know as well that was a good tip seems to work a little, yet have noticed depends on the read how the court cards seem to look at one another that tells it's own storey, I never though about writing the dreams down regarding the cards that is a good idea as i have them now nightly, through this at times I fell like I am becoming obsessed through the dreams is that not bad.

I tend to train myself with the cards on a morning with my morning coffee, just after waking I have always done this for different things that go on in my life as an artist I used to get out of bed for 5am as the first light was coming to paint in my studio because the light at that time of the day is amazing so thats where I get that from. so my brain is starting to tingle and zing when i jump out o bed it's like a light bulb turning on... Zingggg.
have a look at my old web site i dont use it now see what you think if you have time, http//freewebs.com./colinonart/ or just type in google colinonart just like this you will get there. and yes I have for a long time been wanting to paint my own cards would take for ever but I feel that this would be a fantastic way of developing the meanings personal to me.

thxs for listening Doug hope to speak soon

Hi Aditya Jois,

Thank you for your kind words.

Yes, I think it's amazing that you designed your own Tarot deck.

Taking the time to design your own Tarot deck can only do great things for your intuition and spiritual development :D
