Philippe Camoin’s ancestry leads back to Nicolas Conver, who in 1760 created the Tarot de Marseille. In 1998, Philippe collaborated with Alexandre Jodorowsky to restore the Tarot de Marseille. This was a three year process that involved research and intense focus.
Now Philippe is sharing what he knows through work shops and courses. There are certain Laws, of his creation, that he uses to read and teach the cards. On his website he promises that his Tarot courses will be arriving in the UK and US in due course.
I love this deck and regularly use it to read for others.
The Laws or Codes which Philippe teaches are specific to the Tarot de Marseille and, as far as I understand it, would not be compatible to other decks. These laws are known as the ‘Camoin Laws’.
The website describes these Codes or Laws as a discovery, which of course implies that they were lost to begin with. I’m unsure about the validity of this statement as it relies heavily upon the authority of his version of history; namely that the Tarot de Marseille was created with the intention of housing these secret codes. I would be interested in finding some corroborating evidence for this (on a purely historical basis; I still think that his techniques might be sound). It further describes how other Tarotists, failing to rediscover these codes were forced to create their own, leaving the Marseille deck behind.

I love Holy Mountain. Jodorowsky does his own things with magick, to be sure.
Hi Izabael,
I agree. Jodorowsky has his own approach and creative style.
I’m glad you liked the post
